No doubt in the fact that almost every blogger blogs to earn money, even I do. But what makes you stand out of millions of blogs out there, is your passion about your niche. You must be passionate enough to earn serious money. So when is the right time of monetizing one's blog? Should you start from the very first day or after gaining certain momentum. Thats a million dollar question! Yes, it is.
This depends on the author, whether he writes more for people or more for organic. Regular people visiting blogs like you and me are never going to click on any kind of ads. Only the organic traffic (people coming from Search Engine) helps in making money from ad scheme such as Adsense, Widgetbucks etc. To understand this point clearly, lets go into a bit of psychology of it.
If you are what you are :
I mean ask yourself what you do when you read someone's blog? You know where lies the content, where are the ads and what things are useful to you. There is hardly any chance that you will let your vision fall on a ad and many techies also have ad blockers which automatically block ads from showing up. Total revenue that we people provide to a Author's revenue is almost NIL. We only serve the purpose of building the vital community around a blog for its existence.
If you are what you are not :
Now imagine yourself as a novice who knows where to ask his/her queries. You will just google your query and then visit results and will scan the entire content of a page in lieu of finding what you want. In such cases, only novices consider ads as a part of the page's content and click on them, resulting in revenue for the author. So coming back to the real world, the best time to monetize is when you are getting good organic traffic.
If you start from the very first day, then it will create a impression that you care for the money but not about the content you are to provide. This will create a misinterpretation of your professionalism and will turn many visitors back harming the community around your blog, which is very hard to build for a new blog.
